Mini Game

From Boing Boing Animals Wiki

Mini Games are smaller endless games that can be played within Boing Boing Animals. They can reward the player with additional coins, but will cause a slime to lose HP.

Interface

Menu

The player can access Mini Games using the controller button near the bottom-right corner of the screen. This opens up the Mini Game menu, and the selection of games will appear in a horizontally scrollable row in the form of smaller icons. Tapping on an icon will display the title of the game and a moving image demonstrating its mechanics. A small question mark button in the top-right corner of the moving image will bring up a larger window with more detailed, illustrated instructions on how to play.

On the right side of the moving image, the player can select one of their slimes to play with using the left and right arrows. Mini Games can be played with any slime that has a sufficient amount of HP in the player's home or mansions.

After selecting a slime, the player can press the Start button below the slime to play the game.

If the player attempts to play with an egg, the message "Hatching required!" appears above the egg and will not allow the player to proceed. Slimes with an "(exhausted)" indicator on their HP count will appear with their eyes closed in the Mini Game menu, and pressing start will cause the message "Not enough HP!" to appear when pressing Start.

Gameplay

Mini Games are played in the square-shaped screen area between the buttons. Most Mini Games will have the slime either remain stationary or move vertically along the sides of the gameplay area. The player's score will also be shown at the top or bottom of the Mini Game screen. Mini Games can be paused using the X button in the top-right corner of the screen. They will also automatically pause if the player goes to a different part of the menu, such as accessing their home.

Mini Games

  • Match 3 - Tiles will spawn at the top in a row and fall down. The player taps on adjacent tiles with matching colors in groups of three or more to make them disappear. The game ends when the entire area is filled with tiles.
  • Push Block - Tiles will appear on the outer edges, forming an empty space in the middle. The player can push rows or columns of tiles toward the center. Adjacent matching colored tiles in groups of three or more will disappear. The game ends when there is no empty space on the board and no matching tiles.
  • 2048 - Tiles will spawn on the board one at a time per move, and the player can swipe to move all blocks in a cardinal direction. Two tiles with matching numbers will merge into one tile with a number that is double their original value. The game ends when the board is filled and none of the tiles can merge into one another.
  • Block Puzzle - Blocks will appear on one side in sets of three. The player can drag and drop the blocks on any empty space on the board. Filled rows and columns will disappear. The game ends when there is no available space left for the player to place blocks.
  • Falling Foods - Food and other items will travel from the top of the screen towards the slime. The player must press and hold to allow food to reach the slime while releasing to avoid consuming non-food items. The game ends when the player performs an incorrect action three times.
  • Memory Game - The player is given a 5x4 array of tiles that they must flip to match two identical pictures in a limited amount of time. If the player completes the board, they will be given some extra time and a new board to solve. The game ends when the timer reaches 0.

Post-gameplay

The player will get a Game Over screen when they lose or if they quit and confirm on the pause menu. This will bring up a screen tallying up the player's score and showing the following:

  • Star rank - Indicated by the amount of solidly colored stars based on the player's score during the session. Stars can hold partial values.
  • Score - Appears as white text against a blue background directly below the star ranking. This value shows the player's score during the current session.
  • Record - Displays the highest score the player has obtained in the mini game overall within their save. The player can view their record for all Mini Games using the Statistics option in the menu when calling Granny Slime.
  • Reward - Shows the amount of coins the player has earned from the current session. The amount of coins rewarded is 15% of the score. If the ad removal is purchased, the reward is increased to 30% of the player's score.
